Update: Exploding E-Cigarette Lawsuits

On Behalf of | Feb 2, 2016 | Personal Injury

A Florida man is suing the manufacturer of an e-cigarette, after an explosion caused by the product resulted in severe burns to his face, throat and lungs

E-Cigarettes are used as a popular alternative to traditional tobacco products. The devices heat a liquid solution which releases a vaporized form of nicotine. However, the safety of e-cigarettes is now being questioned, as they have the potential to explode and cause severe burn injuries.

On October 26th, 2015, a Florida man was placed into a medically-induced coma after his e-cigarette exploded, causing severe burns to his head and neck. Similar incidents have occurred throughout the United States, and around the world. Manufacturers of the devices assert that the explosions occur when users over-charge the lithium ion batteries that power the cigarette. Despite this claim, users who have been injured by such explosions are filing product liability lawsuits alleging that the products are defective and have the capacity to cause serious injury. In the case of the injured Florida man, the e-cigarette explosion caused permanent injuries to his face, throat and lungs that will require life-long care.

If you or a loved one suffered from injuries as a result of an e-cigarette explosion, you may be able to seek legal compensation. Contact the product liability attorneys at the Law Offices of Peter Angelos for more information.
