Biography
For over 40 years, Gary has been advocating on behalf of those who have suffered personal injuries, sometimes leading to premature deaths. These serious injuries were caused by companies that manufactured, distributed, and supplied asbestos-containing and other toxic products.
Gary was the lead attorney on numerous jury trials throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, obtaining substantial settlements and multimillion-dollar verdicts on behalf of the firm’s clients. In 1990, he was involved in what was, at the time, the largest consolidated asbestos case in the United States. In 2001, he and his colleagues won one of the National Law Journal’s largest verdicts of that year. In addition to asbestos cases, Gary was involved in Maryland’s case against the tobacco industry; the case against Exxon Mobil corporation for groundwater contamination in northern Baltimore County; and numerous cases against 3M for its manufacturing and distribution of defective combat earplugs.
Gary has argued cases before the Supreme Court of Maryland and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, co-authoring numerous appellate briefs. He has also testified before Maryland State Legislative Committees concerning asbestos litigation in Maryland. Gary has extensive experience in mass torts, motor vehicle accidents and products liability cases. His legal work has earned him Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating for Professional Excellence and Ethical Standards.
