Biography
A member of the Angelos law team since 1989, Keith is a trial attorney who focuses primarily on Products Liability/ Mass Tort Litigation and Asbestos Litigation in Maryland and the District of Columbia resulting in the successful recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation on behalf of the firm's clients.
Notably, Keith also worked as a key attorney on behalf of the firm representing families adversely affected by the contamination of fly ash, resulting in a settlement valued over $54 million dollars against Constellation Energy.
Although he has the distinction of working as part of the Angelos legal team on some of the largest and most historic trials in legal history, he also represented clients in the areas of Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation.
Keith has successfully represented clients at the appellate level in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals (Alliegro v. AC&S, Inc. 691 A.2d 1997) addressing issues of asbestos litigation in the District of Columbia and in the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit (Richard Baker v. 24 F.3d 632) addressing issues of worker's compensation in Maryland.
In addition to his legal practice, was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2002 and reelected for 5 consecutive terms representing Baltimore City. During his tenure in the Maryland General Assembly, Haynes served at the highest levels of the House Leadership including Dep. Majority Leader, Dep. Majority Whip, and as one of the longest serving members of the House Appropriations Committee and Capital Budget Committee. Haynes served as Chair of the Public Safety and Administration subcommittee which oversees the budget of every major agency and department in Maryland. Prior to being elected to the House of Delegates, he worked as a registered lobbyist representing working men and women on behalf of the firm before the Maryland legislature.
Keith has been recognized as Highly Rated in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards Peer Review by Martindale-Hubbell since 2014. Additionally, he has been recognized as The Nation's Top One Percent of Lawyers by The National Association of Distinguished Counsel since 2022; recognized by The Nation's Top 100 Trial Lawyers since 2022; and recognized by the National Black Lawyers Top 100 since 2023.
