Thomas Minkin to be Honored as a Daily Record Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Tom Minkin will be honored as a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient at The Daily Record’s annual Leadership in Law event on May 17th, 2018. The award recognizes well-respected members of the Maryland legal community, who have dedicated their valuable time and efforts to the advancement of the profession.

A senior attorney who has worked at The Law Offices of Peter Angelos for over 50 years, Mr. Minkin has extensive experience in general civil litigation, product liability, personal injury litigation. He is especially experienced in labor matters, having also served as a union advisor for more than 50 years.

Mr. Minkin is a University of Baltimore alumnus, who began his legal career with the U.S. Treasury Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF), where he served as a Special Agent for five years.

After passing the Maryland bar in 1965, he was admitted to both the Maryland and U.S. District Court and District of Maryland Bar Associations. Later, Mr. Minkin would be admitted to practice in  the United States Supreme Court, the District of Columbia, and Tennessee.

Mr. Minkin has also served on various boards, including eight years on the Trial Court Judicial Nominating Commission for Baltimore County, and eight years on the Board of Liquor License Commissioners for Baltimore County, as both a commissioner and chairman. He is also a member of the American Association of Justice, Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, and American Judicature Society.  In 2010, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Baltimore Building Trades Council.

Throughout his accomplished legal career, Mr. Minkin has shown his outstanding ability to serve as a dedicated mentor and leader of the legal community. Of particular note is his work with two consolidated mass tort asbestos trials, where he identified asbestos containing products that poisoned nearly 9,000 victims. Because of the litigation, thousands of victims received some measure of justice against the asbestos companies that caused them life-threatening and sometimes fatal harm.

We at The Law Offices of Peter Angelos are very proud of Tom Minkin for this achievement and commend his work within the Maryland, Washington D.C., and Tennessee legal communities. We applaud his dedication to improving the lives of his clients, as well as his unfaltering commitment to the communities he serves.
