After a two week trial, a jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City returned a verdict in favor of Dr. Jocelyn Farrar in the amount of $20,272,000 against Georgia Pacific Corp., a major manufacturer of asbestos products. Dr. Farrar, of Mt. Airy, Maryland, a Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, who is 57 years of age, was diagnosed in June 2008 with mesothelioma, a debilitating disease associated with exposure to asbestos-containing products.

Dr. Farrar was exposed to asbestos while washing work clothes of her grandfather, John Hentgen, at her grandparents home in Silver Spring, Maryland, over a period of several years beginning in the 1960s. Her grandfather was an insulation worker who was exposed to asbestos in his work at various locations. The work site at issue in this case was the Forrestal building in Washington, DC, where Dr. Farrar's grandfather worked from December 1968 through the spring of 1969.

Dr. Farrar was represented by Thomas Kelly and Will Minkin with the Law Offices of Peter Angelos, P.C. The presiding judge was the Honorable Barry G. Williams. This represented the latest multi-million dollar verdict for victims of asbestos-related mesothelioma represented by the Law Offices of Peter G. Angelos.
