Public Citizen has asked for a recall of Arava because of serious complications and side effects associated with its use. Arava was approved to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Unfortunately, Arava has now been linked to at least 12 fatalities as well as liver damage and significant gastro-intestinal pain in people who took this drug.
The medical name for Arava is leflunomide. It is manufactured by Aventis.
